The Cohens Photography

I can’t say enough good things about Josh and Kenny, they are amazing! Considering the quality of photography they have the best prices in town, but with them it isn’t just about the photography. The two most important things to me on my wedding day were my dress and the photographer (my groom fits in there somewhere ;), so the photographer was the first thing I set out to find. After extensive research I gave the Cohens a call based on their amazingly beautiful portfolio (then when I found out there pricing, I actually asked why they were so low!). After my first phone call with Josh I knew they were the right choice! Not only did he have extensive knowledge about photography, but he has a great personality AND recommended a florist, makeup artist and ultimately ended up recommending our venue. The pictures in their portfolio speak for themselves (they are AWESOME….) but what they don’t tell you is how great they are about everything else. Both Josh and Kenny did a number of things that made our day extra special and helped us along; carried bags, carried bouquet, knew to keep bouquet in water and to bring a towel, tied my bustle, put on my veil, carried the back of my dress, had lip gloss to borrow, had bottled water on a hot day (and a cheeseburger for my hungry husband!), and the list goes on. All the while with smiles on their faces—they were happy to do anything we needed. You will not be disappointed with Josh and Kenny, but you had better book early because they are incredibly popular!

I wish I could give "Value for Cost" more than a 5. The Cohens are one of the most reasonably priced photographers in Las Vegas and yet still the best. We did TONS of research before picking our photographer and I was still surprised at how amazing they were. Josh and Kenny are a young couple who must love what they do because they go above and beyond being just photographers. While most photographers create a book of their best pictures of abnormally pretty models from multiple weddings to show future brides (be weary brides), the Cohens gave me access to see a full real wedding so that I would know exactly what I was getting. There were over 2000 pictures and they were gorgeous. My husband and I also got a free engagement session with hundreds of pictures (I almost cried when I saw how amazing some of the pictures were). So when it came to the day of the wedding I was 100% sure that the Cohens had everything under control and would take some amazing pictures. Aside from the amazing pictures, Josh and Kenny are there to help out the bride in any way possible. They showed up to the wedding early and even brought a third assistant (who we were never charged for) so we had three photographers helping and taking pictures. When my mom struggled with my tie-up dress, Josh was there to jump in and fix it (and even fixed it for me multiple times throughout the night when I wrecked it). When I went to pick up the 2 bags I was carrying around (emergency kit and purse), Kenny jumped in and carried everything instead so I didn’t have to worry about it. When you hire a large photography company you don’t get the kind of individual attention that Josh and Kenny give. They really got to know us and what we like/dislike. They had tons of wedding advice while I was planning and yet never talked us into anything we didn’t want. They were also a LOT of fun which made long photo sessions seem to fly by (Kenny is the cutest thing ever and is like the sister everyone always wanted). Last but not least… the pictures are BEAUTIFUL!!!! The colors are vibrant and they are amazing with light. Just email them and ask to see pictures or look at their website and you will be convinced also. We had amazing luck with our venders and the Cohens were nothing short of perfect.

Simon and I were planning our Las Vegas wedding from Montreal, so you can imagine how stressful and difficult we thought that the planning and execution would be. In all honesty, after our first conversation with Josh over the phone, about 75% of our work was done--we were 95% sure we wanted to hire the Cohens (they were the first photographers we spoke to, so we felt we should still do a bit more research), Josh referred me to a wonderful local florist (Janis Pollen), I got the names of limo and tux rental companies he recommended, Josh etched out a tentative time frame for the day of the wedding (which was more than a year away), and most importantly for a bride, he referred me to their favourite makeup/hair artist and friend, Sarah Vickery. All of a sudden my to-do list had shrunk, I felt a wave of calm and excitement at the same time, and I was able to start visualizing the events and flow of our wedding day! As good consumers we still proceeded to speak to the other photographers we were interested in, however, the more portfolios we looked at, the more photographers we spoke to, the more research we did, the more confident and excited we became about Josh & Kenny. All of our research and shopping just confirmed our initial instinct—the Cohens were perfect for us!!! Although we had seen some beautiful photographs from other photographers, there was one very important element that was missing in how their work affected us. Even though we were confident that other photographers could capture beautiful moments and traditional portraits, no one else’s work instilled confidence that they would also be able to capture and retain the integrity of our personalities and preferences. We’re sure that every couple feels they have unique needs or requests. For us, we wanted a combination of traditional romance, artistic creativity, unique settings and perspectives, and candid moments, but most of all, we wanted to feel ourselves in all of the above. Although we wanted creativity and uniqueness, we didn’t want something so esoteric so that it was unapproachable. We wanted to look at our photographs and to be hit, instantaneously, with genuine emotions—laughter, love, joy, inspiration, romance, fun, and amazement. After finalizing our plans with the Cohens, we spent the next 12 months in eager anticipation of how the two of them would see and capture the two of us. Although we knew we would love their work, we were not prepared for how incredibly moving, beautiful, captivating, creative, and simply awe-inspiring the photographs from our wedding would be . . . We are almost embarrassed to admit how much we love our wedding photographs!! All efforts to be humble or modest when looking at (or showing off) our photos is completely lost! Instead, we are amazed at how beautiful we, our guests, our day, and our emotions were captured by their insanely talented eye, creativity, and commitment. It is impossible for anyone to look at our pictures and not feel the joy, love, and unabashed fun that filled our wedding day—this is a testament to the Cohens, their talent, and their love of their work and clients. Part of Josh & Kenny's expertise comes in how they are able to put their clients at ease. Even though we knew we wanted amazing photographs, we feared that we might be difficult clients for them to work with because we are incredibly camera shy. We are not people who enjoy being in the limelight, nor are we comfortable having all eyes—and cameras—on us. And posing just makes us nervous! We were worried that our own timidity would inhibit their ability to give us the type of photographs we wanted—we were so wrong!! Their professionalism, kindness, laid back style, experience and expertise, and comfortable direction and guidance put us at ease in a way we really didn’t think possible. We were able to trust them completely and, as a result, we are still stunned at the intimate and genuine moments and emotional exchanges that they were able to capture. And, as we look at the range of photographs they have given us, one thing remains constant—we see ourselves, not some overly crafted or engineered pose. They are truly amazing!! On the day of the wedding, I have to stress how amazing and comforting it was to have Josh & Kenny with us. They were so generous, so calm, and were so experienced that Simon and I didn't have to worry about ANYTHING. Their expertise with all things wedding-related helped keep our day on track, and helped us all stay very calm and comfortable. Even when my fakey eyelash started to come up, Kenny whipped out their emergency kit and voila, lash fixed! The train of my dress picked up a fair amount of dirt before the ceremony and, again, they reached into their bag of tricks and suddenly my wonderful bridesmaids were using duct tape to remove all traces of dirt. The timeline Josh had etched out for us was perfect. Josh and Kenny also worked great with our other vendors and were completely in-sync with our DJ and reception manager so that they never missed a beat or moment. Finally, I just need to stress what wondefully nice people Josh and Kenny are!! Simon and I loved every moment spent with them, and there were a lot--engagement shots, 13 hrs on the wedding day, and then Trash the Dress a couple days later. They had us smiling and cracking up the whole time! In addition to being professional, they are a riot to spend time with :-) The only reason I rated them 4.5/5 on responsiveness is because they're very busy and you may wait a few days for an email response. However, to me, the fact that they're busy and in high demand is good thing! And I want to stress that each time we did speak or email, they were always on top of the details and events--we never worried about anything. Simon and I are pretty relaxed and busy ourselves, so we were very satisfied with their responsiveness, however, I do realize that there may be couples who expect a response within 24 hrs. In summary, we truly feel blessed and fortunate to have had the Cohens with us on our wedding day. From the very fist conservation we had with them, to our continued contact after the wedding, the pride, enthusiasm, expertise, creativity, joy, and helpfulness that Josh & Kenny provide their clients is evident and genuine. We are so thankful for the incredible moments they have immortalized for us, and for the infinite happy moments they will continue to give us as we look at our photos and relive our day. Having Josh & Kenny as our photographers is the best wedding gift we could have given ourselves!! We truly wish this experience and joy for every couple!! I have no doubt that we'll see Josh and Kenny again . . . future maternity pics and annual family Christmas pics :-)
